Pancreatic Disorders

Acute Pancreatitis:
  • Starts with severe pain in the abdomen, can cause vomiting giddiness fainting fever.
  • Common causes are Alcohol consumption, Gall stones, Tropical, Hereditary, High lipid levels, Trauma etc.
  • Confirmed by Ultrasound, CT scan and Blood tests.
  • Managed conservatively (Saline and Injections).
  • Can Cause complications like
    • Pseudocyst: Causes pain, swelling in the abdomen and early satiety (Pt cannot eat food).Treated with Surgery (Open / Laparoscopic)
    • Bleeding
    • Infections
    • Can harm Lungs, Kidneys and Liver.

Chronic Pancreatitis:

  • Causes pain in the abdoman (Belly) over a long period.
  • Can cause Diabetes, Loose motion, Pseudo cysts (Swelling in the abdomen).
  • If pain is severe it is treated with surgery otherwise treated with medications.
Pancreatic Cancer:


  • Causes Joundice, Swelling and pain in the abdomen.
  • Treated with surgery and Chemotherapy. 
Pancreatic Tumours
  • Causes  Swelling and pain in the abdomen.
  • Treated with surgery. 
Pseudocyst of Pancreas

  • Abdominal pain and bloating
  • Diagnosed by Blood test and Ultrasound etc
  • Treated get better and go away on their own only treated by surgery by larger pain
